Graduation

At NewSchool of Architecture and Design graduation marks a milestone in a student’s life. The occasion is very important for all graduates, their families and friends. This year the 2013 commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday June 22, 2013 at the Theodore Gildred Courtyard of the Salk Institute in La Jolla. The ceremony will promptly begin at 9:00 AM.

ELIGIBILITY

All Fall 2012, Winter 2013 and Spring 2013 graduates may participate in the June 22, 2013 commencement ceremony. Any student wishing to participate must have completed all academic requirements no later than Spring 2013.

CEREMONY OVERVIEW

Tickets
The tickets will be distributed to all participating graduates (date TBD). Lost ticket(s) will not be replaced.

Arrival
Graduates should arrive by 8 AM. Once you have arrived please follow the signs and directions given by NewSchool of Architecture and Design Commencement Staff.

All graduates and guests must park in the overflow parking lot located at the back of the Salk Institute. You can access this lot off of Torrey Pines Scenic Drive. If the lot fills, you may park on the streets or in the dirt lot.

In the graduate seating area, families of award winners will have assigned seating; all other seating is general admission. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 AM in the main courtyard. Access to the courtyard will only be available via the NORTH LAWN entrances. Seating will begin at 8:30 AM. Arrivals after 8:55 AM will be asked to stand outside of the courtyard until the processional is complete and the graduates are seated.

Photography
A professional photographer will take your picture on and off the dais area. Graduates will need to provide the photographer with your name and permanent address and you will be contacted approximately one week after the Graduation ceremony. Family members are not allowed in the dais area to take pictures during the ceremony.
