Executive Masters of Architecture Program

Complete a NAAB-accredited Masterís of Architecture degree in nine months.

NewSchool of Architecture and Designís Executive Masters of Architecture Program gives licensed mid-career architects who have worked at least five years in the field the opportunity to advance their professional knowledge and careers.

This NAAB-accredited program is designed to give you the small class size you expect from NewSchool while teaching you a blend of theory, design, and practice that you can start to use immediately. Learn alongside fellow practitioners and be taught by recognized faculty. Convenient weekend classes held every other weekend, along with practical applications that can be fulfilled at your current place of employment, will help you balance a continued education with full-time practice. In the United States, most state registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. professional degree programs in architecture, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. A program may be granted a 6-year, 3-year, or 2-year term of accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established educational standards.

Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degree programs may consist of a pre-professional undergraduate degree and a professional graduate degree that, when earned sequentially, constitute an accredited professional education. However, the preprofessional degree is not, by itself, recognized as an accredited degree.

NewSchool of Architecture and Design offers the following NAAB-accredited degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Architecture (235 quarter undergraduate credits)
  • Master of Architecture (preprofessional degree + 90 quarter graduate credits)
  • Master of Architecture (non-preprofessional degree + 135 quarter credits)
  • Master of Architecture (license +preprofessional degree + 45 quarter credits)
