Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be prepared to:

  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of and ability to apply the processes of design, planning, preservation and construction of exterior spaces, the relationship between architecture and site, and the potential to use design as a tool for change
  • Build a broad knowledge base of natural and cultural systems
  • Demonstrate competency in the technical, practical skills of landscape architecture associated with “critical seeing” and “critical making”, and their role in investigating complex and innovative ideas
  • Develop and apply knowledge of landscape architectural materials, methods, and performance, from source through extraction, design use, and place in the post-consumer landscape
  • Develop and refine communication skills of the landscape architect using visual, graphic, written and verbal methods to construct arguments and articulate design ideas
  • Nurture critical thinking and life-long learning skills needed for deep and continuing engagement within the built and natural environments
  • Demonstrate leadership and informed decision-making skills in professional practice and in the community
  • Positively impact the environmental design professions and the future trajectory of landscape architecture
